A heritage live oak fills the heart of this narrow urban lot. The front house and rear house share a footprint, profile and exterior metal skin - emphasizing the length of the site. Each home stacks group activity functions such as cooking and living atop sleeping spaces in order to fully view the expansive oak. The south facing front façade features a vertical garden with foliage screening the glass from the harsh sun. The structure features steel columns and glue-lam beams. All loading and structural design performed in house.
